What do you do for a living? If you’re in the construction industry, you might say that you build houses and buildings. If you’re in the information industry, you might conclude that you provide information services. And the list goes on.

But according to our guest in the 3rd Episode of Season 03 in Thriving in Construction, The Podcast, what you do for a living could be summed up to two things; controlling risk and managing cash flow. And for you to do it with conviction, you must have passion in the pursuit of excellence.

There is much to say in this sentence. And there is no better way to explain it than listening to the person who utters those same words.

“I have to tell you that what is required is passion in the pursuit of excellence and that statement contains three words, passion, pursuit, and excellence. In life every successful person that you know, if you analyze it, is passionate about what they do. Why do I use the word pursuit? Because you don’t make it, you never make it to excellence, you become excellent in the pursuit of excellence. But you must never believe that you have reached excellence. Because if you do, you lower your guard, and you mark the beginning of the end.” – Emilio Alvarez
